Description:
Viola odorata is the classic florist's violet, which was long ago imported here from Europe. It was a popular florist's flower in the late 19th and early twentieth centuries. In the mid-twentieth century, Eleanor Rosevelt, brought it back to popularity. This species is the parent of many violet cultivars, and is still grown comercially.

Aside from its large blooms, its wonderful fragrence is a giveway to its identity. It has a hooked stigma.
